Our client is an internationally active company in the pharmaceutical engineering sector, known for high-quality technical solutions, long-term customer partnerships, and a strong international footprint. This role combines commercial responsibility with strong on-site technical leadership and requires a hands-on engineering professional who can act as the primary representative of the company at customer sites.
This is a key position with high visibility, offering the opportunity to take ownership of customer relationships, lead the local site presence, and ensure technical excellence in a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.
Your Responsibilities:
Site Leadership & Customer Interface
- Act as the local Site Leader and company representative in Ireland, ensuring a professional and reliable presence at customer sites.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact person for pharmaceutical customers where the machines are installed and operating.
- Take ownership of customer relationships and ensure long-term partnership development.
- Represent the company in a leadership capacity during installation, service, escalation, and lifecycle discussions.
- Ensure smooth coordination between the Irish site and Headquarters in Germany.
Technical Responsibility & Hands-On Engineering
- Act as the technical first point of contact after successful SAT (Site Acceptance Test).
- Provide hands-on engineering support and practical troubleshooting when required.
- Understand machine functionality in depth in order to assess technical issues and translate them effectively to specialist teams at HQ.
- Structure and communicate technical inquiries to expert teams in Germany, ensuring accurate issue capture and follow-up.
- Support installations, commissioning phases, and technical escalations.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to local colleagues (e.g., Customer Service Coordinator).
Service & Account Management
- Assume full responsibility for customer satisfaction, support, and development.
- Coordinate all service-related activities between customers and headquarters.
- Engage in active service sales and lifecycle consultancy, including follow-up on quotations.
- Negotiate and finalize service contracts (e.g., SLAs).
- Act as escalation point for customer concerns, initiating internal actions as required.
- Capture and communicate customer and market requirements to Service Product Management.
- Support sales in service-specific matters (URS handling, contract management for new machine projects, presentation of service portfolio).
- Conduct regular customer visits.
- Participate in trade fairs (preparation, participation, follow-up).
- Ensure achievement of annual order intake and revenue targets.
- Act as extended project team member for new machine projects, particularly during installation phases.
Your Qualifications:
- Completed degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics or similar) or equivalent practical technical qualification.
- Strong hands-on practical engineering experience is essential.
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering, pharmaceutical machinery, automation, or related industrial environments.
- Ability to confidently act as technical authority and first contact person at customer sites.
- Experience in customer-facing technical roles (e.g., Field Service Engineer, Technical Project Engineer, Service Engineer) is highly desirable.
- Leadership capability and readiness to take on a Site Leader function.
- Strong customer orientation with commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Organisational strength and ability to coordinate complex service cases.
- Willingness to travel for business.
- Team player with the ability to operate in an international environment.
- Business fluency in English (German language skills are a strong advantage).

The company delivers advanced technical systems to pharmaceutical manufacturers and provides comprehensive lifecycle support.
This Field Service Engineer – Automation position is a hands-on technical role focused on installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated systems at customer sites. The successful candidate will act as a key technical contact on site, ensuring reliable machine performance and high customer satisfaction within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.
This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced automation technology, operate independently at customer sites, and contribute to technical excellence while being part of an internationally connected engineering organisation.
Your Responsibilities:
To ensure prompt and flexible support for machinery at customer sites, we are establishing and expanding a dedicated team of service technicians.
- Perform installations, commissioning, troubleshooting, and modifications in accordance with customer requirements and established standards.
- Effectively communicate challenges to technical support and implement on-site workarounds.
- Conduct operator training and offer assistance to customers during production and shutdowns.
- Foster ongoing customer satisfaction by addressing recurring issues.
- Collaborate with the sales department to identify sales opportunities and actively participate in trade shows.
Your Qualifications:
- Completed technical training in electrical engineering, automation technology, or equivalent knowledge and skills.
- Significant experience as a Service Engineer – Automation, particularly with complex specialised machinery.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following PLC programming languages, with the ability to apply them confidently in practice:
AWL (Instruction List)
(Structured Text) - Experience with Siemens control systems is required
- Willingness to travel up to 100% international, demonstrating high flexibility, personal responsibility, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Following a training period in Germany, the service assignment can be conducted remotely. The training period spans approximately 6-9 months, depending on experience
